BMW 3 Series — G20

The most reliable 3 Series in two decades — if its 'lifetime' fluids aren't taken literally.

330i — B46/B48 2.0T · ZF 8-speed

Engine

— The factory interval serves the lease cycle; half of it serves the second and third owner — especially on a turbocharged engine running thin oil.Book an appointment →

— The B58 in particular hides tired plugs behind strong coils — on tuned M340is we treat 40k as the number.Book an appointment →

— These engines carbon slower than their predecessors — we scope before anyone sells you a cleaning, and most pass.

— BMW gaskets still age on BMW schedules — the first seep at the housing or oil cooler is a cheap catch during any oil service.

Cooling

— Plastic fittings live longer in fresh coolant — and the pressure test finds tomorrow's leak while it's still a hose clamp.Book an appointment →

Transmission

— Same gearbox family, same truth: ZF calls for service by eight years or 100k, and a serviced 8HP shifts like new at 150.Book an appointment →

Drivetrain

— Small fluid volumes worked hard — 60k keeps the xDrive clutch pack and the M340i's limited-slip honest.Book an appointment →

Brakes

— The factory book already says what we'd say — we just actually do it on time.Book an appointment →

— Four corners measured, not one sensor trusted.

Suspension

— Adaptive dampers announce their retirement with a film of oil long before ride quality collapses — we check for it at every visit.

Cooling-system plastics & fittings

Quick-connect fittings and plastic flanges age with heat cycles and seep before they fail. A UV dye check during routine service catches them at the annoyance stage instead of the tow-truck stage.

Oil cooler / heat-exchanger seep

The oil-to-coolant exchanger's seals let go quietly on higher-mileage cars — oil residue on the block below it is the early tell during any inspection.

"Lifetime" ZF8 fluid taken literally

The most common G20 driveline complaint we see is simply an unserviced 8HP: harsh 2-1 stops, hunting at low speed. Fluid, pan, and adaptations at 60k prevents the whole conversation.

ZF 8-speed service

— Hybrid (330e) and M3 (G80, S58) run their own charts — ask us.

— This platform's known-issue list is deliberately short: the G20 is genuinely stout, and we won't invent problems to fill a page.

Intervals reflect factory guidance and Veyra field experience for typical use. Severe service — track, short-trip, extreme climate — shortens them; ask us.
