Mercedes-Benz C-Class — W205
Three engines, three personalities — one standard of care from C300 to C63.
C300 — M274 2.0T
Engine
— Service A pricing sells the 10k interval; the timing chains, turbo bearings, and cam adjusters vote for half of it.Book an appointment →
— Strong coils will happily hide a weak plug or two — we change them before they get the chance.Book an appointment →
— Early M274s stretched chains ahead of schedule — a cold-start rattle that outlasts two seconds gets a scope and a cam-timing check the same week.Book an appointment →
— All three engines are direct-injection — the borescope decides, the photos justify, and nothing is sold on folklore.Book an appointment →
Cooling
— Fresh coolant is cheap insurance for water pumps and heater cores — "lifetime" is a warranty word.Book an appointment →
Transmission
— Mercedes at least admits this gearbox needs service — we just do it sooner, with the correct fluid revision, and reset adaptations after.Book an appointment →
Drivetrain
— Small hard-working fluid volumes — 60k keeps the 4MATIC honest and the C63's limited-slip smooth.Book an appointment →
Brakes
— Mercedes' book agrees with ours here — it just has to actually happen.Book an appointment →
— Four corners measured — and on C63s, rotor condition judged for heat checking, not just thickness.
Suspension
— W205 fluid-filled mounts collapse quietly — the thud into Drive and the idle buzz through the seat are the tells, and new mounts transform the car.Book an appointment →
— An Airmatic car that sits low overnight is telling you about a strut seal while it's still cheap — we listen at every service.Book an appointment →

AMG M177/M178 care standard
Oil 5,000 mi · plugs 30–40k · intercooler pump tested every visit
One standard for every handbuilt AMG 4.0 we service, whatever the body around it: oil on the half interval, plugs treated as consumables, and the low-temp intercooler circuit function-tested electrically at every service — because a heat-soaked hot vee quietly stops making the number you paid for.

Known issues on this platform
Engine & transmission mount collapse
The most common W205 complaint we see: fluid-filled mounts leak down, and refinement — the whole point of the car — leaves with them. Clunk into Drive, vibration at idle, drivetrain lash. New mounts feel like a new car.
Mount replacement
M274 timing-chain stretch — early cars
Early-production M274s stretched chains well ahead of schedule. A rattle at cold start or cam-correlation codes get measured with a scan tool the same week they appear.
Cam-timing measurement & chain service
M276 camshaft-adjuster rattle
Seconds of startup rattle from the V6 means adjusters and their check valves. Addressed as such it's a known job; left alone it wears chains and guides into a bigger one.
Adjuster & check-valve service
Intake-valve carbon buildup
All three engines are direct-injection and build deposits accordingly — rough cold idle and dulled response are the tells; the borescope is the proof.
Walnut-blast carbon cleaning
Airmatic compressor & strut seep — equipped cars
Struts seep, the compressor works overtime covering for them, then fails as the expensive second casualty. Catching the strut first halves the bill.
Airmatic leak-down diagnosis
C63: intercooler pump & heat management
A lazy low-temp-circuit pump shows up as heat soak and soft top-end pulls long before a fault code. An electrical function test at service keeps the V8 making its number.
